On the 6th of May 2018, I was asked by Leela to photograph herself and her beautiful family.
I always ask my families where they'd like their portraits taken and if they have a bit of trouble thinking of a location I ask where maybe special to them, or somewhere that holds a lot of good memories for their family. For Leela she thought of Taitua Arboretum. The arboretum has a collection of amazing trees and plant life covering 20 hectares of open grassland. I myself have never been here before and I am so surprised I had never heard of it! I am very thankful Leela and her family brought me here because it is a very understated piece of NZ treasure, PERFECT for photoshoots!
This photoshoot was particularly special, as it was my first shoot where I was able to capture the announcement of a gender reveal! Leela and Maile are expecting their second little blessing and to be apart of such a special moment makes me realise how good I've really got it with my job! They chose to announce it with a blacked out balloon covered in white question marks. Leela's sister was to be the only person that knows the sex of their second child as she had the awesome job of filling the balloon with either blue or pink confetti. Look through the images below to find out whether Leela and Maile are going to be welcoming a little girl or little boy!!!
Thank you so much for such an amazing and fun photo session you three! You are all such beautiful and lovely people! I am so very lucky to have been given the opportunity to photograph not only your portraits but the gender reveal also... it was definitely the icing on the cake!
To go from playing against Leela in volleyball at high school to now photographing herself and her sweet family is so amazing! I am very lucky.
